Well, I always wanted to know if:
a.) they really sang when they were lipsyncing.
b.) if the mic is real.
c.) and if it is real, is it on?
d.) and if it is on, are they recording what they were singing?
Well, thanks to some random HBO employee, I got to hear how one of them really sounded live. This one in particular had already established her inability to croon, though the video gave me something to laugh at. Note at how seriously she tries to sing the tunes even though she knows it's all playback:
